ISO 14000 is a
series of international standards on environmental management. The
ISO 14000 series provides a framework for the development of a
complete Environmental Management System and a supporting audit
program.
The corner stone of the ISO 14000
series is ISO 14001. It specifies a framework of control for an
Environmental Management System against which an organization can be
certified by a third party. Other standards in the ISO 14000 series
serve as guidelines for ISO 14001*

environmental management system

with its own stated environmental policy (once those policy
commitments have been made)
- demonstrate conformance
- ensure compliance with environmental

* Other standards in
the ISO 14000 series serve as guidelines for ISO 14001. These
include ISO 14004, a guidance for the development and implementation
of the system; 14010 and 14011 providing principles and a guideline
for environmental auditing; 14012 providing guidance on auditor
