ISO/IEC 17025 (formerly ISO Guide 25 and EN45001) Laboratory Accreditation is the criteria for laboratories to demonstrate that they are technically competent, maintain an effective quality system, and are able to generate technically valid calibration and test results.

ISO 17025 applies to any organization that wants to assure its customers of its precision and accuracy. ISO 17025 also includes in-house laboratories where confidence of results is at a premium.

ISO 17025 is compatible with The American Association for Laboratory Accredidation's (A2LA) own accreditation requirements for "calibration houses". But A2LA adds additional requirements for Laboratories to implement before compliance can be achieved.

A2LA and NVLAP tighten the ISO spec to include more stringent rules for proficiency testing, etc. that can further burden your Lab. Don't get caught  off-guard by A2LA or NVLAP's subtle differences and additional requirements - At RH ANDERSEN we have an ongoing dialogue with A2LA and an intimate knowledge of practices and procedures necessary to demonstrate compliance to these higher-level certifications. 

*Note:With the release of ISO/TS 16949:2002 the automotive industry has mandated that all suppliers of calibration or related laboratory services be registered to ISO/IEC 17025.
